General Manager, Trade Finance
Abdihamid Abu is the General Manager of Trade Finance Department in ITFC, where he is responsible for leading a multi-location team of Relationship Managers & Credit Professionals to drive and execute ITFC’s trade solutions strategy across the 57 OIC Member Countries, with a trade finance portfolio of nearly US$5 billion. As the GM of Trade Finance, he oversees the day-to-day activities of the Department in originating and underwriting of trade finance transactions as well as managing the portfolio.
Since joining ITFC in 2008, Abdihamid progressed through different roles in Credit & Structured Commodity Finance, and later assuming the role of Division Manager to lead the ITFC Africa Porfolio, a position he successfully held for three years.
Prior to joining ITFC, Abdihamid spent seven years in the US banking sector, having worked for two US based banks (Citizens Bank and State Street Bank) where he held different roles in Credit covering both Corporates and Financial Institutions.
Abdihamid obtained his Master’s Degree in Finance (MSF) from Northeastern University’s Graduate School of Business, Boston USA in 2007 and his Bachelor’s Degree (Finance) with highest Honors from Northeastern University in Boston USA, 2004. Abdihamid is a certified Credit Professional by both Citizens Bank and by Moody’s Analytics.
